CARMICHAEL, CA (MPG) - On Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at approximately 1:30 pm, Sac Metro Fire units responded to a two-apartment fire at Twin Gardens Apartments on 5831 Fair Oaks Blvd in Carmichael.

Firefighters saw the column of smoke emanating from the apartment complex towards the back as they approached the scene. California Highway Patrol had to close off northbound Fair Oaks Blvd to traffic so a large number of fire trucks could access the property. The dispatch included 10 fire engines, six trucks and one medical vehicle with four battalion chiefs plus assistant chiefs. Fire personnel evacuated the occupants until the fire was contained and water services could be returned.

Sac Metro Fire Public Information Officer Diana Schmidt said the large response was “to ensure the fire did not spread to the numerous apartments in the property.” She said the fire involved several first and second story residences of which apartment unit #28 was the most affected"'with some fire damage visible from the outside. Firefighters put the fire out 10-15 minutes after arrival.

Schmidt said there was one minor injury, which medics treated at the fire scene. The fire department will continue to investigate the fire’s origin.
