The Carmichael Midas store will offer donated school supplies this Saturday, August 6.

CARMICHAEL, CA (MPG) - Carmichael Midas auto shop owner Kurt Swanson is showing his support for the community with a back-to-school giveaway this Saturday.

The businessman and his customers have pooled resources to provided free backpacks and supplies for local kids from kindergarten to high school age. “I’m a family man myself,” says Swanson. “I know how much getting kids back to school costs. My customers and I want to help working families.”

The giveaway event is at the auto service center, on 6840 Fair Oaks Blvd.

On hand to dispense goodies will be Sacramento boxing star, California Golden Gloves Champion Lorenzo Powell. “My son trained at the same gym as him,” explains Swanson. “Lorenzo’s an amazing young man, respectful and smart. He’s a great role model. He’ll bring his championship belt to show the kids. They’ll love meeting and talking to him.”

Supplies are limited to one pack-per student and adults must be accompanied by school-aged children. The Midas store has limited parking space: visitors are encouraged to walk or to leave cars on adjacent streets.
