GRIDLEY, CA (MPG) - You are invited to Stake Your Claim at the Samoyed Club of America’s 90^th Anniversary National Specialty 2022 …Gold Country style…October 4-8 at the Butte County Fairgrounds in Gridley, California.

This is your chance to discover the wonder of these Arctic dogs, one of the oldest breeds that originated in Siberia. They were bred to herd Reindeer, and then sleep with their people in their huts to keep them warm. It is said that it would take three dogs to nestle with their people in the dead cold of winter, and that the famous group “Three Dog Night” took their name from that connection of dogs and their people, so they say.

So, what’s more fun than a flurry of white fur at the Samoyed Club of America 2022 Nationals? It’s been some 26 years since the National has come to Northern California. Who knows when or if it will come back?

Every day will be filled with competitions in so many different categories from pups to seniors. You’ll be delighted to a display of tricks, weight pulling, fun pee wee showmanship with the little folk and their adorable pups, even a rescue parade and the parade of title holders too. Proud Samoyed owners will gather from around the country and even around the world from as far as Australia for this epic event. From little white flurry fluffs to seasoned pros, they will strut their stuff with that great Sammy smile and their sheer desire to please for this special week.

The event is a truly unique opportunity to get acquainted with all the quirks of the Sammies, and maybe you’ll decide to have one too! They are great family dogs. I should know; I have two of these wonderful critters, one is a rescue and got to be a champion. We share so much love with them. You can check out everything you would like to know from the owners who will be more than happy to share their experience with these dogs, and have they got stories to tell.

There will be a slew of vendors with just about anything you need for whatever kind of canine you have. From doggie stuff to some beautiful jewelry and so much more. And never fear, you can take your sweet time to peruse all that will be on display because there will be lots of great treats to satisfy your appetite. And the events will keep you and the whole family busy and put smiles on your face every single day. As a matter of fact, you might want to come back because there’s so much to see and do.

Opening ceremony will commence Tuesday, October 4 at 9 AM and everyone is invited. There might be some surprises with Gold Country reenactments of days gone by, lots of Sammies to see with a meet and greet, and some super entertainment.
