The Orangevale History Project (OHP) has had a great first year thanks to the provision of a location for its new museum by the Orangevale Recreation and Park District. ORANGEVALE, CA (MPG) - The Orangevale History Project (OHP) has only been in existence for one year, yet this new historical society has been offered a small building to create a history museum for Orangevale. Support comes from the Orangevale Recreation and Park District who has provided a 1500 square foot opportunity for OHP to have their own space for an office, archival work area, gift shop and exhibit room. OHP will be bringing high-tech interactive touch screens to share the history of Orangevale and the surrounding area.

However, to be honest, they need assistance to get there! There are needed improvements to be made on the ‘as is’ condition of the building to bring it up to museum standards. This means climate control and proper storage equipment for the artifacts. This means improving the interior of the building like new flooring and providing proper and safe access like an ADA ramp and patio area outside. This means obtaining display cabinets to showcase their historical items as well as having a gift shop.

This next step means funds donated, materials donated, and volunteer talents offered. This means YOU, the community. They need individuals and businesses to assist with funds and services, and will display their gratitude listing the large donors in the museum.

Yes, they have applied for Grants. Yes, they have collected a few donations. Yes, they will have fun fundraisers in the future. Yes, they have created a GoFundMe account. However, they need help NOW to make this history museum a reality.

The museum will be at 6920 Hazel Ave, just north of the Orangevale Community Center. Help them bring it to life to share with all of Orangevale and the immediate surrounding area. Your checks payable to Orangevale History Project, can be mailed to Orangevale History Project, c/o Orangevale Chamber of Commerce, PO Box 922, Orangevale, 95662. Or you may go to their website and click on their GoFundMe or Museum Wish list links:  www.orangevalehistory.org.  When they get enough funds ($25K goal) for the improvements to be made, they hope to open in May or June. Thank you for your support and hope to see you at the Orangevale History Museum!
