CARMICHAEL, CA (MPG) - Music, magic and visual arts were the focus of a recent Carmichael Chamber of Commerce program.
The event showcased art-related businesses in the community. Sacramento Fine Arts Center was represented by artists David Peterson and Paul Dessau. Photographer Laura Berard displayed images.
In lieu of the Chamber’s typical civic speaker – a mini variety show entertained members.
Veteran magician Dale Lorzo and assistant Elaine produced bouquets and magically multiplied dollar bills. Solo entertainer Clemon Charles rocked with guitar and vocals. Duo Del Gomes and Susan Skinner presented jazz standards, accompanied by piano and clarinet.
Students from Carmichael’s School of Rock presented a finale of covers ranging from Led Zeppelin to Fleetwood Mac hits.
All artists were Chamber members who offer their skills professionally.
“Featuring our artists like this was a first for us,” said Chamber CEO Julie De Prada-Schott. “We love to show that art can be business; and that Carmichael is a vibrant center for creativity and entertainment. Our members loved the program, so we hope to make it an annual event. A community without the arts would be a dull place, indeed.”
