Supporters of the 2023 Jesuit Art Event include Sheila Brown (left), artist Paula Bellacera, Kim Kalmbach, artists David Post and Pat Mahony, and Jesuit High School President Chris Alling.

CARMICHAEL, CA (MPG) - Jesuit High School’s art sale recently sold more than 80 canvases, sculptures and photographs. Garnering contributions from high-profile California artists, the event has been a Sacramento fundraising staple for more than a decade.

A VIP reception saw dozens of items exit with new owners. Sales continued online for five more days.

“We had a steady three hours of purchases on our first night,” reported fundraising events director Kim Kalmbach. “There's always high energy and excitement during our reception. One big piece, a Pat Mahoney landscape, went for $8,000 in the first hour. Several $4,000 pieces sold the same evening. Over the next five days, on-line sales continued briskly. One supporter bought $8,000 worth of canvases from the website.”

The 2024 show racked up near-record results. Proceeds will be split 50/50 between the Catholic school and artists.

“It’s an important event that supports local artists as well as Jesuit,” Kalmbach said. “We’re always grateful for artists who participate. The quality of their work astounds us, year after year. And we really appreciate the community that comes out and buys.”
