The Carmichael Kiwanis’ volunteer big band keeps seniors on the floor during a Valentine event at La Sierra Community Center.

CARMICHAEL, CA (MPG) - Seniors swung and slow-danced at a Valentines Concert staged by Carmichael Parks Foundation last week.

Hosted at the la Sierra Center, the entertainment drew an audience from senior homes and community residents.

Heart-shaped cookies and low-salt snacks treated all comers. Swing tunes, foxtrots and cha-cha-chas had sneakered feet tapping.

“It's a wonderful band,” noted an octogenarian dancer. "They know all the old songs we love."

Admission to the annual event benefited Kiwanis Club projects.
