CARMICHAEL, CA (MPG) - The Carmichael Chamber of Commerce recently named top community achievers for 2025. More than 150 guests walked the red carpet at a glittering Milagro Centre banquet, where honorees included restaurateurs, business owners and elected officers.

Milagro figurehead Susan Pallotta-Davis was hailed Person of the Year.

Supervisor Rich Desmond received a Public Service award.

Business Man of the Year honors were shared by Tim’s Music Store owner Scott Mandeville and Skip’s Kitchen owner Skip Wahl.

Business Woman of the Year, Christina DeCelle owns Time Out Tavern (Carmichael) and Shenanigans Kitchen (Citrus Heights).

A Carmichael Legacy award crowned Rey Azteca restaurant founder Ismael Pantoja.

The Chamber of Commerce coined a first-time category for insurance broker Katie Pexa, naming the former honorary mayor a Trailblazer in Business.

Introducing Pexa, an employee lauded her leadership style: “Katie has a unique way of lifting people up,” Fran Clinton said. “She’s raised the bar on what’s possible with hard work.”

Replied the boss: “The community’s given back to me tenfold. I have a job that’s has enabled me to raise a family and have a wonderful life. I’m truly blessed.

“My father started our Farmers (Insurance) agency in 1961,” Pexa continued. “I was born that year, so I feel I’ve been in the business ever since.”

Pexa mentioned recent challenges for her industry.

“Right now, my phone’s ringing 24-7," she said. "Many people who were not affected directly by the fires in Southern California have family or friends who lost everything.  Up here, people are concerned about how this might affect them. We’re doing our best to help everyone.”

Being named the Trailblazer in Business delighted the honoree.

“If a trailblazer is someone who works hard and is dedicated to making a difference in business and in community,” Pexa said, “then that’s me.”

At the event, the Chamber of Commerce’s Carmichael Spirit awards recognized Carmichael Seniors Club and the Carmichael Beavers Swim Team.

Sacramento Municipal Utilities District (SMUD) was hailed for supporting local causes.

San Juan Education Foundation was named Non-Profit of the Year and will receive a portion of the Chamber of Commerce’s fundraiser gala proceeds.
